Jenůfa at the Metropolitan Opera

Jenůfa, Leoš Janáček's powerful opera of family, community, and difficult choices, comes to the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center in New York on December 4, 2026. This performance is part of the company's engagement running from November 16 through December 4. Find event information and tickets through ticketsmetopera.com.

First performed in 1904, Jenůfa is known for its emotionally direct storytelling and distinctive musical language, shaped by the rhythms and sounds of Janáček's native Moravia. The opera follows Jenůfa as she faces the consequences of a hidden pregnancy and the severe judgment of her small community. Its score builds from intimate passages to sweeping dramatic moments, giving the story an affecting, human scale. The Metropolitan Opera is the listed company for this engagement; cast and opening-act details are not provided.

Lincoln Center places the performance in one of New York's best-known cultural districts, with restaurants, public spaces, and other performing-arts venues nearby. The December date offers an opportunity to pair an evening at the opera with a visit to the Upper West Side.
